Program
海洋関連の科学技術と製品の展示及び情報の交流を目的とする日本で唯一定期的(隔年)に開催される国際 コンベンションである。国際見本市とシｍｍポジウムによって構成される国際的学術･産業分野の交流を図る。 1986年以来、神戸で５回、横浜で１回開催され、今回で７回目を迎える。
1998年は｢国際海洋年｣にあたる'98年は、テクノ･オーシャン'98は、｢21世紀の扉を開く海洋〜人類と海との 共生を探る〜｣をテーマとし、国際海洋･環境展、国際港湾･物流展、新たに学術研究団体展を加えて、３つの ショーを展開する。

構成:
(1)国際海洋･環境展(World ocean)
(2)国際港湾･物流展(World Port)
(3)新たに学術研究団体展

更に、国際シンポジウム: テーマ｢共生と持続可能性−海域･沿岸域の恵を受けて｣("Symbiosis and Sustainability of Coastal Zone and Sea")

b)沿岸域生態系の保護･回復、沿岸海域環境の評価と海域環境システムの解明、海域･沿岸域の環境共生技術、 共生を目指す海陸一体の沿岸域計画

EXPO'98リスボン国際博覧会
メーンテーマ: ｢海洋−未来への遺産｣

開催日時: 平成10年(1998年)5月22日〜同年9月30日

開催場所: ポルトガルの首都リスボン(会場はリスボンを流れるテージョ川河口から約5km上流の ウォーターフロント)[画像(1)／画像(2): エンリケ航海王子 のﾓﾆｭﾒﾝﾄ].

参考情報: 1998年はポルトガルの航海者バスコ･ダ･ガマがアフリカ大陸南端の喜望峰を回りインドまでの 航路を開いてから丁度500年になる。それを記念して開かれるもの。
開催中の7月20日は日本の｢海の日｣にあたり、｢Japan Day｣と銘打って国際的な｢海の日フェスティバル｣を開催予定。 ｢日本館｣も開設される。

海をテーマとした最初の国際博覧会は、1975年沖縄で開かれた国際海洋博覧会であった。1992年には、スペイン のセビリアで、コロンブスによるアメリカ大陸発見500周年を記念した博覧会が開催された。

(財)日本海洋協会
海洋関連シンポジウム･講演会
財団法人日本海洋協会は、昭和50年に設立されて以来22年間にわたり、海洋法制、海洋開発･管理政策、 海洋科学技術の開発や調査などに関する論文を掲載した定期刊行物｢季刊海洋時報｣の発刊をはじめ、 それらに関する講演会やシンポジウムを主催してきたが、平成10年(1998年)3月31日をもって解散された。

同協会海洋図書閲覧室が所蔵してきた海洋関連図書は、一括して広島県呉市の海上保安大学校(電話: 0823-21-4961) にて管理される。同大学校はそれら図書を引き続き一般の利用に供することになっており、利用希望者は 直接同大学校に連絡下さい。
