○ 国立博物館は首都マニラの有名な古い要塞「イントラムロス」城壁南門の南側にある。
この博物館の２階ギャラリーにおいて、海底52ｍの水深から引き揚げられた「サン・ディエゴ号」の
海中遺物の数々が「Treasures of the San Diego」と称され特別展示されている。（2003．12）

Underwater archaeology deals with the recovery and analysis of ancient objects submerged in water.
"The San Diego wreck was discovered at a depth of 170 feet (52 meters) near Fortune Island, Batangas.
It contained more than 5,000 artifacts representing a time capsule of Asia, Europe, and America."
"The San Diego wreck is only existing example of Spanish shipbuilding in all of Asia. It was built as
a merchant ship in Cebu during the 16th century by Spanish, Chinese, and Filipino laborers. It was
later moved to a shipyard in Cavite where Morrga converted it into a warship."
"The San Diego sank during the first naval battle between Spain and Amsterdam(オランダのこと) in
Philippine waters."

1992年archaeological excavation of San Diego wreck siteの1／30の発掘状況の精密･リアリスティックな
ジオラマ模型が展示されている。
展示品： 陶器類、壷類、船上生活用具、錨、キール材、船に積み込まれていた16世紀のスペインweapons
(大砲類、弾丸cannon balls、artillery類), long guns called culverins and shorter guns referred to as
cannons短砲.、750 Asian stoneware jarsなど。
